How much does custom software cost?

Most of our projects land between $20,000 and $80,000. Four things move that number: how many features you need, how many systems it connects to, how polished the interface has to be, and how sensitive the data is. The estimator on this site gives you a real range in a few minutes, no email required.

How long does it take to build?

Projects in our range usually take six weeks to four months. Simple internal tools are quicker. What slows projects down is almost never the code. It is unclear requirements and slow feedback, which is why we spend the first phase learning how your business actually runs.

Should I just buy off-the-shelf software instead?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes. If your need is common and existing software fits the way you work, buy it. Custom makes sense when your process is genuinely yours, when people re-type the same information between systems, or when per-user pricing punishes you for growing. Plenty of our work connects the software you already pay for rather than replacing it.

Who owns the software when it is finished?

You do. The code, the designs, and the documentation are yours, assigned to you on final payment and written into our master services agreement. It runs on standard technology in accounts you control, so you are never stuck with us.

Do you work with businesses in Utah County?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We are based in Salem and work across Utah County, Provo, Orem, Lehi, and the Wasatch Front, plus remote clients around the country. Local means we can sit down with your team during discovery, which is when it matters most.

Do you charge a fixed price or by the hour?

Fixed price, agreed before we start. You get the number, the timeline, and what is included up front. If the scope genuinely changes partway through, we price the change and you decide before any work happens. No surprise invoices.

What happens after it launches?

We stay on. We train your team, keep it running, and fix what breaks. Software also has running costs beyond us, like hosting and any third-party services it uses. We tell you those numbers before you commit, not after.

Can we start small instead of committing to everything?

Usually the better plan. We scope the smallest version that solves a real problem, ship it, and let what you learn shape the rest. You keep everything we produce along the way, whether or not you continue.

Do I need to be technical to work with you?

Accepted Answer

No. You bring the knowledge of how your business works and the authority to make decisions. We handle the technical choices and explain them in plain terms, so you can judge the tradeoffs without having to judge the code.

Why not use a cheaper offshore team?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes you should, and we will say so. The headline rate is lower, but the real cost includes the time you spend managing it and redoing work that missed the point. If your problem is well defined and you have someone to run it, offshore can work well. If the hard part is understanding your business, it usually does not.
